Gone Running with the Surfing Madonna

We are super excited to announce that we will be partnering with the Surfing Madonna in a big and bold way this upcoming October (and in the leadup to this great event)!

  • Mondays at 6pm
  • Thursdays at 6pm

New Format For Training Schedules

We are excited to announce a new training program format for the schedule.

What we have done is created a schedule that allows the coaches to be more dynamic in their workout creation for intervals, and simplifies the schedule for everyone!

What a great idea!

So, what you will find on each schedule is a weekly outline at the top, and then below you will find a long run progression based on what event you might be training for!

The coaches will have workouts designed for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced, and you can self regulate your work on the interval days.

We will continue to meet on the same schedule:


Mondays: 6pm at Movin Shoes PB
Tuesdays: 6pm at The Runner's Bathroom at Mission Bay for Intervals
Saturdays: 7am at Movin Shoes PB for the long runs!

Thursdays: 6pm at Movin Shoes EN for Intervals
Saturdays: 7am at Movin Shoes EN for the long runs

Weekly Update for 7/6/2015 - 7/12/2015

Hello everyone!

Once again it is Monday! Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend. We had a great turnout for our Saturday morning run, which was pretty cool because of the Holiday and all. We even had a few people pick up some prizes!!!!!

We are right back in the swing of things this week, so mark your calendars and see you soon!

Monday (today) is Monday Runday and part of our Summer of Run! We have partner vendors coming to our 6pm run from each store every week. This week New Balance will be at the PB store while Hoka One One is going to be in Encinitas. Would love to see everyone there!

Tuesday is Interval Day for the San Diego crew. We meet at the Runner’s Bathroom (near the Visitor Information Center for Mission Bay) at 6pm every Tuesday! This week we are doing 6 minute runs with 2 minute rest intervals. Totals will be from 3-5 depending on fitness and the part of training you are currently a part of.

Thursday is Interval Day for North County! Meet at the store at 6pm and we’ll run to the Encinitas Community Park for the workout. If you are running late, meet us there! The park is across the street from Scripps and behind the shopping center on Santa Fe Drive. 

 Saturday is our long run! 7am at the stores! 

Come one, come all! And bring your friends! The more the merrier!

First Thursday in Encinitas! July 4 Weekend

Hello all!

We are excited to kick off our Thursday Interval days this week at the North County group! Show up by 6:00pm at Movin Shoes in Encinitas and we'll warm up with a short run to the park and then a workout!

Also! We are a GO for running this weekend. We know it is July 4th and some of you might be doing races around town, but for those looking for a group to run with we will be here at 7am (both locations) this Saturday!

 Celebration Run

We are happy to announce our first PARTNER EVENT for the all new GetMovin Training program! We will be working with the Celebration Run, a second year 1/2 Marathon that will be held at Mission Bay on November 1st!

We have a specific training program that will start up this Saturday, July 4th! 

Features of the program include our GetMovin Training Plan (for the 18 week training program), clinics, seminars, and 3 weekly training runs!

  1. Monday Group Runs at both Movin Shoes locations! We run at 6pm from both our San Diego store and our North County store!
  2. Midweek Interval Sessions, which will be at 6pm! They will be Tuesdays in San Diego, meeting at the Runner's Bathroom at Mission Bay and Thursdays in North County, meeting at Movin Shoes and running to and around the Encinitas Community Park.
  3. Weekend Long Runs, starting at 7am at either of our locations!

Full Marathon Program Schedules

We will be featuring 2 different Full Marathon Programs, and you can make the choice between an 22 WEEK training cycle or a 18 WEEK one.

We recommend the 22 week cycle because it is more gradual and will reduce the risk of injury, but we also understand that there is a need, on occasion, for a more accelerated program.

Great Times at the San Diego RnR

GetMovin Got Movin at the Rock'n'Roll Marathon in San Diego!

After a fun filled and challenging 20 weeks of training, GetMovinSD hit the roads this weekend at the San Diego Rock'n'Roll Marathon in the Remix 5k, the Marathon and in the Half Marathon.

It could not have been more wonderful.

From the pre-race day 5k experience of some of our C25K people (and some of the long race folks who used it as a tune up ... and to get 3 medals) to the amazing finish of Mike Wahl in the Marathon, the weekend was superb.

Pre-Race day was a treat, as so many people decided to run the 5k! From some gloriously quick finishes, to improvements on the times people ran at the Carlsbad 5000, the runners were amazing. They even, apparently, nearly ran OVER Meb Keflezighi (Olympic Medalist and Boston and NYC Marathon champion) as he was stretching. 

The day was PERFECT for running, and many of those who did not do the 5k came down to the expo on Saturday for a little pre-race trot and packet pickup! 

The rest of the weekend then lay before the runners.

The folks not running did a great job of getting out there and supporting the team running! From the amazingly cool sign that Christine made with the names of all the runners doing the Half and Full, to the C25K folks who showed up in droves and got to be our cheer squad from start to finish!


Cheers and Smiles.
While there were many challenges (ie ... hills) and the occasional nagging injury, we all had a great time running, listening to music, being a part of a bigger event, and ultimately learning about ourselves while we were part of a bigger community of runners and walkers.

There are so many great stories from the day, and we hope to share a few in the coming days and months.

In the meantime, enjoy some photos that show the joy of being a part of a team and working on our own individual goals as a group!

5k and 10k Training, as well as general running conditioning


5K and 10K Training Plans Available


We have adapted our training to meet the needs of those who wish to either race shorter events or who are just in a 'holding patern' between training cycles.

This program allows you to race once, or multiple times, in a sequence, and keeps participants on the same workout trajectory as the entire group.

Great for a season of shorter races or for just enjoying the group training for a while.

C25K: Running For Beginners

Couch to 5k (C25K) is a great way to get ready for a 5k run with little or no experience.


It takes you from mostly walking to running over a 10 week process as you prepare for the event.

GetMovin with our C25K program, and find the power of progression, but also of group dynamic in the running experience.


We will meet on Mondays and Saturdays, with the 3rd run/walk on your own on Wednesday or Thursday.

Each workout takes about 30-40 minutes to complete, and there are 3 per week.

NORTH COUNTY:

We will have 3 weekly events scheduled, and your training programs will be downloadable here!

  • Mondays: The Weekly Store Run will be a part of our training program. We meet at 6pm every week.
  • Thursdays: Interval Sessions. We will meet at the store at 6pm and you will need to know exactly what your schedule calls for (there will be 3 basic workouts, but total running will be based on what your current schedule calls for).
  • Saturdays: Long Run Saturday, 7am. Meet at Movin Shoes and GetMovin! 
SAN DIEGO

We will also have 3 weekly events scheduled, and once again your training is downloadable here!
  • Mondays: The Weekly Store Run will be incorporated. 6pm every Monday! All year.
  • Tuesdays: Interval Sessions. We will meet at the Runner's Bathroom at Mission Bay (near the Visitor Information Center at the base of Clairemont Drive) at 6pm.
  • Saturdays: Long Run Saturday, 7am. Meet at Movin Shoes and GetMovin!
